Art is meant to be appreciated in all of the infinite forms it can be seen in. Which is why the concept of Art Dismantled was born. Our society tends to only appreciate a masterpiece once it is complete. But the true genius of any great piece of work is sometimes seen from within the process of creation. If one can look beyond the beauty on the surface they may just see art for what went into it and not just what came out of it. Art Dismantled is the concept for an art exhibit which could potentially become its own museum. Works of art will be dismantled to best demonstrate the artist's creative execution process. The exhibits will be 3-dimensional giving people the ability to walk around an idea rather than stand in front of something lying flat on a canvas. However, when the viewer stands in front of the piece it will still appear as though it is lying flat. But as you move around or through it, you will see how the work was dismantled and all the individual pieces that went into creating the finished product.
The purpose of Art Dismantled is to allow people to take a glimpse into the work of an artist through the dismantling of their piece in order to instigate a new found love of art that people already love. For example, Picasso’s Guernica or Dali’s Persistence of Memory. But in order to further this idea, pieces that have been lost in time or unappreciated for what they are will also be dismantled and brought back to life, both in our exhibit and in our minds.
